After School Kids Sewing Basics (Ages 9-12)

Students will learn the basics of sewing with a machine as well as by hand. Projects will be varied to keep students excited!

After School Teen Sewing Sessions (Ages 13-16)

Students will learn to use patterns to create garments and other projects. Use of a sewing machine and hand sewing will be covered.

Albany Exploration Zone - Adventurers & Innovators (K-5th Grade)

We provide the STEM supplies, staff, and activities – your kiddo just needs to arrive ready to have fun! These Saturday classes include an age-appropriate STEM activity and an additional activity or free time. Because we understand that families have busy schedules, you can register for as many of these standalone activities as you like – choose just one or all of them!

Albany Gems Dance Team (Grades 3-8)

Do you love to dance? If you are going to be a 3rd-8th grade student this fall, then Albany’s competitive youth dance team might be the place for you! Coach Ashley Custis and team will offer multiple workshops this summer as an introduction to dance technique, different styles of dance, and lessons in teamwork and team building.

Fairytale Dance (Ages 3-4 & 5-7)

There’s nothing more imaginative than fairytales! Experience the magic of ballet as your child stretches, leaps, and dances across the floor. Using props and interactive songs, this class will help improve balance and coordination while introducing your child to the fundamentals of ballet.

Fundamentals of Baton Twirling (Ages 6-10)

Baton twirling is an artistic and aerobic sport that combines dance and gymnastics while manipulating a baton. In this twirling class, your child will develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. Better yet, they’ll have fun and build connections with their peers!

Glow in the Park

Get your glow outfit ready and help us light up the park!

Novice Baton Twirling (Ages 11+)

Learn to combine fundamental twirling skills into routines (performance opportunities available).

Spring Break Day Camp (Grade 1-5)

With active games, art projects, and hands-on learning activities, Spring Break Day Camp is a great opportunity for new experiences! Youth will be involved in art, cooking, and science activities that will encourage their creativity and provide learning opportunities. Join us for a fun filled week of new adventures this spring break at Camp Albany!

Aqua Jog

Aqua jogging is a group fitness class with a trained professional teaching for about an hour. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere sometimes with music.

Household Recreation Swim

Gather up the entire family for some fun in the pool! Members of the same household are invited to come and swim together. Adults are required with anyone under age 16.

Lap Swim

Lap Swim is exactly what it sounds like - swimming laps! Do your own personal training routine. When the shallow end is available, walking is permitted.

Personal Exercise

Aqua jogging is so fun & popular. This is not an instructor led session and participants must remain socially distanced from other participants. Flotation devices are available.

Senior Fitness

Senior Fitness is a group fitness class with a trained professional teaching for 45 minutes. The classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable social atmosphere sometimes with music.

Youth Swim Lessons

Make a splash with swim lessons at Albany Community Pool! Learning to swim teaches skills to be safe in the water and so much more. Swimming builds self confidence, develops self-esteem and makes water a safe, fun environment for a lifetime. We are focused on developing strong swimmers and confident kids.

Albany String Orchestra (Ages 10-Adult)

The Albany String Orchestra is a beginner-intermediate level ensemble for violin, viola, cello, and string bass players with prior playing experience or who have completed at least a year of instruction. No auditions are required. The orchestra performs 2-3 concerts each year. Music includes classical, folk, Broadway, and dance tunes.

Fascinating Memoirs

What makes a memoir engrossing to a reader? This class will study great published memoirs, explore different types of memoirs, how to interview a memoir subject, and write a memoir of your own.

Fused Glass Heart Windchimes

Create your own fused glass windchimes, which are sure to add charm to any garden. Students will have access to a variety of beautiful glass. Let your imagination come to life and you will go home with beautiful pieces to put on display.

EXPRESS YOUR CREATIVITY

Acrylic Painting for Fun

This course is designed for all skill levels, no experience required, and you can use whatever acrylic paints and brushes you have already. We will be painting on wood, glass, cloth, canvas, canvas boards, and anything else that sounds like fun.

Advanced & Intermediate Watercolor Painting

Delight in the color, brilliance, and challenge of watercolor painting. Learn composition, perspective, reflections, shadows, and color theory with new and challenging techniques. This class is for those who are already knowledgeable of the basics of watercolor.

Beading Beginnings

Basic beading stitches and techniques will be introduced and practiced in the proposed projects, leading to some nice jewelry options. Each session a new project will be introduced and started in class and finished at home.

Beginning Sewing

This class will cover the fundamentals of sewing for the new sewist and those who need a refresher. Bring your machine or use ours. You will learn machine features, sewing techniques, and stitches. You will have the confidence to choose a pattern, fabric, and notions.

Calligraphy

Practice letter forms and hand writing in this class that will help you fine-tune your artistic talents. This class will also cover calligraphy related art and crafts, including bookbinding, basic watercolor, and more.

Demystifying Sewing Patterns

Students will learn that magic behind understanding and using patterns! Students must know the basic functions of a sewing machine for this class.

Fused Glass Flower

Create your own fused glass flower! Students will have access to a variety of beautiful glass. Let your imagination come to life and you will go home with beautiful pieces to put on display.

Intermediate Sewing

This class will cover sewing seams, darts, hems, zippers, and finishing a garment. You will build on the skills you learned in Beginning Sewing or from previous experience.

Better Bones & Balance

Based on OSU Bone Research Lab studies, this exercise program has been shown to slow the rate of bone loss in adults of all ages. Improve your balance and coordination, reduce your risk for falls, and see an increase in muscle tone and overall body fitness.

Gentle Yoga

Increase strength, flexibility, and reduce stress while learning techniques to calm your mind and soothe your spirit. Learn yoga poses that develop strength, balance, proper breathing, and relaxation.

We will flow from one yoga pose to the next with the breath. You will build strength, flexibility and balance while gaining peace of mind through breathing techniques and meditation.

Zumba / Zumba Toning

Zumba/Zumba Toning provides a total body workout using easy to follow choreographed dance moves to combine elements of fitness-cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility. Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise because they are super effective and amazingly fun.

Zumba Gold

A dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness program perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. It is designed to introduce easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination.

Multnomah Falls Sightseeing and Lunch

We will be making a couple of stops before enjoying lunch and sightseeing with the impressive views of an Oregon iconic landmark. Plummeting 620 feet, Multnomah Falls looms above the historic lodge which was built in 1925. Fine Northwest cuisine is only enhanced by the breathtaking sight from each table. There will be time to walk outdoors and visit the gift shop.

OMSI - Mandela Exhibit

Experience “Mandela: The Official Exhibition” which is the major new global exhibition that explores the story of the world’s most famous freedom fighter and political leader. This special exhibit was created in collaboration with the Mandela family and close colleagues. Items such as letters, clothing, apartheid-era items, and personal memorabilia create an immersive experience!

Shop Till We Drop: IKEA & Cascade Station

Welcome to the magical world of IKEA! Ikea offers well-designed, functional products for the home at inexpensive prices…and even cheaper food! After visiting IKEA’s showrooms and restaurant, we’ll stop by Cascade Station, a vibrant mixed-use development at the “gateway” to Portland International Airport. The 800,000 square foot retail center features stores such as Bath & Body Works, Nordstrom Rack, DSW Shoes, Marshalls, and Home Goods.

South Pacific

Tillamook Thursday

See highlights of one of Oregon's esteemed coastal cities with this trip featuring the Tillamook Cheese Factory. We will visit the newly remodeled Cheese Factory to have lunch on your own, sample cheese, or have a delicious ice cream treat. Take a self-guided tour through the factory and learn about the processes behind Tillamook's most famous products. Then we will make a stop at Blue Heron French Cheese Company where you can enjoy more samples of cheese and some wine.

Volksfest

Dust off your Lederhosen, starch up your Dirndl apron, and join the happy folks in Mount Angel for a celebration in honor of the best of the “wurst”- Old World sausages that is- at the annual Volksfest. The festival includes German music, a variety of sausages, cheeses, artisan breads, and more. Vendors sell German souvenirs, clothing, and other craft items.

Wildlife Safari

Take a walk on the wild side! Nestled in a large, wooded valley, Wildlife Safari features over 500 animals from around the world. We will view over 76 species from our bus including tigers, giraffes, zebras, lions, elephants, bison, elk, and bear.
